Our Journey
In the heart of Joya Honda, Guatemala, The Little Mountain School stands as a beacon of hope and transformation. Founded in 2015 by Fr. Miguel Alvizures and Forrest Day, this initiative emerged from a profound need: to provide quality education to children in underserved rural communities. Many families in these areas face extreme poverty, with limited access to basic education and nutrition.
Starting with just a handful of pre-primary students in 2018, The Little Mountain School has grown remarkably. Each year, we’ve added a new grade level, expanding our reach and impact. In 2025, 200 children receive bilingual education in Spanish and English, coupled with nutritious meals and a nurturing environment. Our dedicated staff, including both local and international educators, are committed to fostering academic excellence and personal growth.
